Strength
Strength is a measure of a materials ability to support a static stress. As discussed, the yield strength of a material defines the stress that can be supported before permanent plastic deformation occurs. In addition to the yield strength, there are a number of other measures of strength that are used to compare materials. More details about these can be found in the section on tensile and compressive properties. Some other important measures of strength are listed below.
